Trying to get there... wherever there is!

Not had any blogging time recently. I have just not had the spare time. You see, I have finally got around to setting up my wedding invitation website - Just a little note and have also signed up to a Wedding Fair in Skidby Millhouse Restaurant and Bar to try and drum up some sales! So all time is now eaten up by trying to get sample cards made. Every time Radish goes to bed - out comes the paper, and ribbons and sparkley bits.

These are my most recent designs.

Not being the most public of people I am a bit nervous about standing there and selling my wares but if I want to be a stay at home mum and still earn some money I will have to give it a go!

On a crafty note  - this is as far as it has gone on the scrap blanket.

Optically its wonky but it measures equal on the sides so I am not too worried. - I think it will just add to its character.

Pinterest is internet crack!

I seem to be addicted. Addicted to Pinterest. It is the devil's work and pure internet crack! You think i'll just have a quick looksie and the boom - time disappears and you realise that you have to go to bed!!!

Evil stuff but fab at the same time as during my endless time wasting I discovered this.

Sadly the pattern is not available in English, just German and Dutch ( i think)  so i will just have to pine until it is.

Yum yum

Scraps - They are the best bit from the fish and chip shop, they make the best quilts and it seems they can make the best blankets too. Well they have the posibility to anyhow.

I saw a lovely yummy stripey blanket in a photo shoot in the current issue of Mollie Makes and it got me thinking.

So this will be a long WIP, but I love it so much so far ...

Radish Pram Blanket Mark 2

A while back I started a new blanket for Radish. I wasnt happy with the original so had started again with an idea of doing a freestyle blankie and just making it up as I went along...

But not long after this it went awry and I lost the plot miscounted seriously! So i pulled it apart, restarted  and ended up with this:

Which then became this:

I used a mixure of stitches still...

... but less than originally.
It still needs to be blocked and I do think I messed up a little on it but I doubt Radish will ever notice or care.

Finished project - Harry's little seat

Remember this?

My fab little seat that I picked up last year? Well I have finally got round to painting it and replacing the seat that was falling out from underneath. (Mind it took the fact that my bum had to get wedged in it before I did, which is pretty shameful!)

I orginally wanted to have the seat in some very nice Cath Kidson fabric I had seen online but it was a bit too pricey and the only sell by the metre, so off to Dunelm I went ( I love that place!). And this is my result.

Not bad for a first attempt. Just dont look underneath... ;-)

The Versatile Blogger Award

I have just come online for a quicksy ogle at everyone's lovely sites and found to my surprise and delight that I have been awarded a Versitile Blogger award by the lovely Hawthorn

She kindly awarded me it for my crochet and my arty bargain hunting ;-) And according to the rules I have to pass on the award to others and share something random about myself.

So I would like to nominate Annaboo's house  for her fun and happy blog, La Dame au Beret for her beautiful hats and headwear - check her out if you need something unique for a special event, and finally I would like to pass it back to Hawthorn for all her lovely kind words of encouragement that she gives all us 'quiet' bloggers. Not sure if that is allowed but hey ho ;-)

Now what random things about me might be of interest...
  • I used to be an assistant animator for King Rollo Animation. I worked on Spot the Dog and Maisy Mouse animations - I was also the person in charge of all the original Mr Ben artwork and cels. It was heaven.
  • I only passed my driving test a few years ago, but it wasn't until I moved to Dubai six months after passing that I could afford a car. My first drive was on one of the worlds worst accident packed roads. (I swore all the way and saw two car crashes.)
  • My first experience on a motorbike was dressed only in a sheet. (Again swearing alot featured...)
  • I was taught crochet and Knitting by my Gran when I was little but could only get my head around the crocheting. Knitting still flumoxes me!
  • I once went all the way across the country for a blind date. It wasnt really worth the date but the trip was fun!
  • I do the best deserts in the world - or so my nephew Dan tells me (It would be rude not to agree with him, he is only 8)

Snuggle bunny

My friend Louise has a fab pushchair blanket for her little girl that she got from Buggy Snuggles. However at nearly £50 it is not something I can justify (and I dont think they do ones for a Stokke) at the mo so I thought I would see if I could have a go at making one myself. I got two fleece blankets from Boyes (I love that shop!) and got the machine out. And this is what I came up with:

Not bad hey - I was dead pleased with myself especially with  my first attempt at putting a zip in. It needs tidying up but We tried it out the other day and Harry looked very snug. Just need to take a pic next time :-)
